7 - Blurb, summary, and more proofreading

This post should take about 2 minutes to read through.

This week I worked on polishing the summary of the first book, I wrote the first draft of the blurb, and I started creating the Kindle Direct Publishing project. I've set up everything but the blurb and manuscript.

I'm bad at writing blurbs. For the First Mage, I wrote it from scratch three or four times, rewriting and polishing it multiple times before trashing it and restarting. What I've written now for the second book will definitely suffer the same fate, as I'm far from satisfied with it.

The blurb and the cover are the two most important elements of a book besides its actual content. It's what I, you, and any reader will look at first before deciding whether or not they're going to get the book. As such, I've put a lot of thought into them.

I worked hard on the cover for the first book, too. I've made it myself, purchasing an amazing artist's art and tinkering with it to fit the character. When I bought the art for the first book, I got a few more pieces, which I plan to use for the rest of my books. I've already made the cover for the second book, as I want them to be similar enough that it's clear they're part of a series. Each series I write will have a unique look to them, as will each one-off.

I worked on the proofreading for a bit, too. I patched up some consistency issues regarding that thing I've written about over the last few updates, starting on update 2. We're progressing!

Mages' Guild book 2: in final proofread, about 35% in, with the first draft of the blurb done, and front and back matter definitely finished. (updated)

Bright Fantasy LitRPG one-off (working title): next in line to be written. Can't wait to get started with this.

Mages' Guild book 3: outline still brewing, but more concrete, at least in my mind.

Monolith LitRPG series or one-off (working title): at pre-outline stage.

Fantasy Sci-Fi LitRPG series (working title): at pre-outline stage.

Dark Fantasy one-off (non-LitRPG, working title): at the pre-outline stage.

Dark Fantasy LitRPG series (working title): also at the pre-outline stage.
